Qatadah narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent a proposal of marriage to Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), who was the daughter of his paternal aunt; the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to marry Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) to Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) thought that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself wanted to marry her. When she learned that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wanted to marry her to Sayyiduna Zayd (may Allah be pleased with him), she refused. So this verse was revealed about it: "It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided a matter, that they should have any choice (to refuse) in their affair." So Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her) became content with it and accepted it.
Al-Tabarani recorded it with various chains, the narrators of some of which are the narrators of the Sahih.
