عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : قَرَأْنَاهَا عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - سِنِينَ وَالَّذِينَ لَا يَدْعُونَ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ الْآيَةَ ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَتْ إِلَّا مَنْ تَابَ فَمَا رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَرِحَ فَرَحًا قَطُّ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُ بِهَا وَبِ "إِنَّا فَتَحْنَا لَكَ فَتْحًا مُبِينًا " . قُلْتُ : لَهُ حَدِيثٌ فِي الصَّحِيحِ غَيْرُ هَذَا . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ مِنْ رِوَايَةِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ زَيْدٍ عَنْ يُوسُفَ بْنِ مِهْرَانَ ، وَقَدْ وُثِّقَا وَفِيهِمَا ضَعْفٌ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: For several years, during the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we recited this verse: "And those who do not worship any other deity along with Allah Almighty, and do not kill any soul that Allah Almighty has made sacred, except by right, and do not commit zina." Then this verse was revealed: "Except the one who repents." (Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said:) I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as happy as he was at the revelation of this verse, and as happy as he was at the revelation of "Indeed, We have granted you a clear victory."
(Allamah al-Haythami said:) I say: There is a hadith from this Companion in the "Sahih" other than this narration.
Al-Tabarani recorded it as a narration of Ali bin Zayd from Yusuf bin Mihran; both have been declared trustworthy, yet there is weakness in both, and the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
(Allamah al-Haythami said:) I say: There is a hadith from this Companion in the "Sahih" other than this narration.
