قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِدُلُوكِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَى غَسَقِ اللَّيْلِ .
The words of Allah the Exalted: "Establish prayer from the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night"
Majma al-Zawaid 11134 — The words of Allah the Exalted: "Establish"
وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ - يَعْنِي النَّخَعِيَّ - قَالَ : صَلَّى عَبْدُ اللَّهِ [ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ ] ، وَجَعَلَ رَجُلٌ يَنْظُرُ هَلْ غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ ؟ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : مَا تَنْظُرُونَ ؟ هَذَا - وَاللَّهِ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ - مِيقَاتُ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ ، لِقَوْلِ اللَّهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : أَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ لِدُلُوكِ الشَّمْسِ إِلَى غَسَقِ اللَّيْلِ وَهَذَا دُلُوكُ الشَّمْسِ وَهَذَا غَسَقُ اللَّيْلِ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Abd al-Rahman bin Yazid al-Nakha'i states: One day Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) led the prayer, and a man began to look to see whether the sun had set. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: What are you looking at? By the One besides whom there is no god, this is the time of this prayer. The proof of this is the saying of Allah Almighty: "Establish the prayer from the declining of the sun until the darkness of the night." So this is the declining of the sun, and this is the darkness of the night.
