Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During a journey, the verses concerning the ruling of kalalah were revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He stopped, and Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) came before him; the head of Sayyiduna Hudhayfah's (may Allah be pleased with him) she-camel was near the waist of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught this verse to Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) looked and saw Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), so he taught that verse to Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him). When the period of Sayyiduna Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him) caliphate came and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) examined the issue of kalalah, he summoned Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him about it. Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me this verse, and just as he (peace and blessings be upon him) taught it to me, so I taught it to you. By Allah, I am truthful; and by Allah, I will not add anything to it."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Abu Ubaydah bin Hudhayfah, whose case is different; Ibn Hibban declared him thiqah (trustworthy).
