قَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى : وَكَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ وَأَنْتُمْ تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتُ اللَّهِ .

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : وَكَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ وَأَنْتُمْ تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتُ اللَّهِ وَفِيكُمْ رَسُولُهُ قَالَ : كَانَ الْأَوْسُ وَالْخَزْرَجُ يَتَحَدَّثُونَ إِذَا ذَكَرُوا أَمْرَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ ، فَغَضِبُوا حَتَّى كَانَ بَيْنَهُمْ حَرْبٌ ، فَأَخَذُوا السِّلَاحَ ، وَمَشَى بَعْضُهُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ ، فَنَزَلَتْ : وَكَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ وَأَنْتُمْ تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ آيَاتُ اللَّهِ وَفِيكُمْ رَسُولُهُ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ : فَأَنْقَذَكُمْ مِنْهَا .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي اللَّيْثِ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكٌ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: (Allah Almighty says:) "And how can you disbelieve while you are the ones to whom the verses of Allah are recited, and among you is His Messenger?" Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The people of the Aws and Khazraj tribes were talking about the affairs of the Days of Ignorance (Jahiliyyah). Meanwhile they became enraged, until war was about to break out between them; they even took up their weapons and advanced towards one another. So this verse was revealed about it: "And how can you disbelieve while the verses of Allah are recited to you and among you is the Messenger of Allah?" up to: "and He saved you from it."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin Abi al-Layth, who is matruk (abandoned).
