Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Learn the two radiant ones, Surah al-Baqarah and Surah Al Imran, for on the Day of Resurrection the two of them will come as though they were two clouds (the narrator is in doubt about one word here), or two canopies, or two rows of birds, and they will plead on behalf of the one who recited them. Learn Surah al-Baqarah, for taking it is a blessing and abandoning it is a source of regret, and the people of falsehood (that is, sorcerers) do not have the ability (to learn it)."
Al-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains Asim bin Hilal al-Bariqi, whom Abu Hatim and others declared thiqah (trustworthy), while Yahya bin Ma'in and others declared him da'if (weak); it also contains Abd al-Rahman bin Khallad and Amr bin Mukhallad al-Laythi, both of whom I do not know.
