Asim bin Kulayb narrates this statement of his father: I met Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) during the Hajj season. I called out to him from behind the tent: "Listen! I am so-and-so son of so-and-so al-Jarmi, and our sister's son is held captive by so-and-so. We have offered him the obligatory payment fixed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The narrator said: Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) lifted the corner of the tent and said: "Do you know the person concerned?" I replied: "Yes, he is over there." He said: "Then both of you bring him, so that we may carry out the ruling of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)." The narrator said: We used to say among ourselves that that payment was four camels.
Abu Ya'la recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
