Book of Legal Punishments and Blood Money
بَابٌ فِي مَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ إِسْلَامِهِ - نَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ ذَلِكَ - وَهَلْ يُسْتَتَابُ ؟ وَكَمْ يُسْتَتَابُ ؟
One who disbelieves after accepting Islam (we seek refuge with Allah from that), is he asked to repent, and how many times

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ ثَوْبَانَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الْقَرْيَةَ - يَعْنِي الْمَدِينَةَ - لَا يَصْلُحُ فِيهَا قِبْلَتَانِ فَأَيُّمَا نَصْرَانِيٌّ أَسْلَمَ ثُمَّ تَنَصَّرَ فَاضْرِبُوا عُنُقَهُ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُ .
Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said in his sermon: "Indeed, in this town (by which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) meant Madinah) it is not fitting that there be two qiblahs. So any Christian who becomes Muslim and then returns to Christianity, strike off his neck."
