وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ ( فِيهِ رِجَالٌ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَتَطَهَّرُوا ) بَعَثَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - إِلَى عُوَيْمِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذَا الطَّهُورُ الَّذِي أَثْنَى اللَّهُ عَلَيْكُمْ ؟ " فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا خَرَجَ مِنَّا رَجُلٌ وَلَا امْرَأَةٌ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ إِلَّا غَسَلَ فَرْجَهُ ، أَوْ قَالَ : مَقْعَدَتَهُ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " هُوَ هَذَا " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ مُدَلِّسٌ ، وَقَدْ عَنْعَنَهُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ حَسَنٌ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ ابْنَ إِسْحَاقَ مُدَلِّسٌ ، وَقَدْ عَنْعَنَهُ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When this verse was revealed: "In it (the mosque) are men who love to purify themselves thoroughly." the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent word to Sayyiduna Uwaym bin Sa'idah (may Allah be pleased with him) and asked him: What is this method of purification for which Allah Almighty has praised you people? They said: O Messenger of Allah! Whoever among us, man or woman, relieves himself washes his private part (here the narrator has reported one word differently). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: That must be the reason.
Imam al-Tabarani recorded this narration in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain is hasan (good), except that the narrator Ibn Ishaq is a mudallis, and he narrated it with 'an'anah (using the word 'an).
