عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : أَمَا تَغَارُ ؟ قَالَ : " وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَغَارُ ، وَاللَّهُ أَغْيَرُ مِنِّي ، وَمِنْ غَيْرَتِهِ نَهَى عَنِ الْفَوَاحِشِ " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was asked: "Do you not feel protective jealousy (ghayrah)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, I do feel protective jealousy, and Allah Almighty has more protective jealousy than I do, and it is out of His protective jealousy that He has forbidden indecencies."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
