Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 10529

Sayyiduna al-Nu'man bin Bashir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were travelling with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). A man began to doze on his mount, and another man took an arrow from his quiver. The man woke up and became alarmed. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is not lawful for a man to frighten (or alarm) a Muslim."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; the narrators of al-Mu'jam al-Kabir are thiqat (trustworthy).
