وَعَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ أَنْ شَرَاحَةَ الْهَمْدَانِيَّةَ أَتَتْ عَلِيًّا ، فَقَالَتْ : إِنِّي زَنَيْتُ . فَقَالَ : لَعَلَّكِ غَيْرَى ؟ لَعَلَّكِ رَأَيْتِ فِي مَنَامِكِ ؟ لَعَلَّكِ اسْتُكْرِهْتِ ؟ كُلُّ ذَلِكَ تَقُولُ : لَا .
Imam al-Sha'bi narrates: Sharahah al-Hamdaniyyah came to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "I have committed fornication." Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Perhaps you are saying this in a fit of passion? Perhaps you saw this in a dream? Perhaps you were forced?" Each time the woman replied: "No."
