وَعَنْ عَائِشَةَ أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ : مَنْ قَتَلَ ذَا الثُّدَيَّةِ ، عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ - رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ - ؟ قَالُوا : نَعَمْ . قَالَتْ : أَمَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ :
" يَخْرُجُ قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ ، عَلَامَتُهُمْ رَجُلٌ مُخْدَجُ الْيَدِ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ الْغَفَّارِ ، وَهُوَ مَتْرُوكُ الْحَدِيثِ .

It is reported about Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) that she asked: "Who killed Dhu al-Thudayyah? Was it Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him)?" The people replied: "Yes." Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Some people will emerge who will recite the Qur'an, but it will not go down beyond their throats. They will pass out of the religion just as an arrow passes through the target, and their distinctive sign will be a man one of whose hands will be deficient."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains the narrator Amr bin Abd al-Ghaffar, who is matruk al-hadith (abandoned in hadith).
