عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى : يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّخِذُوا بِطَانَةً مِنْ دُونِكُمْ لَا يَأْلُونَكُمْ خَبَالًا وَدُّوا مَا عَنِتُّمْ قَدْ بَدَتِ الْبَغْضَاءُ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَمَا تُخْفِي صُدُورُهُمْ أَكْبَرُ قَدْ بَيَّنَّا لَكُمُ الْآيَاتِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ . قَالَ : " هُمُ الْخَوَارِجُ " .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .

Sayyiduna Abu Umamah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) concerning this saying of Allah Almighty: "O you who believe, do not take as intimates anyone other than yourselves (followers of another religion). They will spare no effort (in trying to stir up) mischief for you; they wish (to see) you in hardship. Hatred (or enmity) has already appeared from their mouths, and what their breasts conceal (that hatred) is greater. We have made the signs clear to you, if you understand." He said: "These are the Khawarij."
