Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) camped at the place called al-Hijr, and the people drew water from the well there. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) set off from there. When he halted, he ordered the people not to drink its water, not to perform ablution with that water, and that whatever dough had been kneaded with its water should be fed to the animals; and the people did so.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains Abd al-Rahman bin Bashir al-Dimashqi, whom Abu Hatim declared da'if (weak).
