Sayyiduna Abu al-Yusr Ka'b bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: By Allah, I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) at Khaybar in the evening when a man from the Jews came with goats, wanting to go into the fortress, while we were besieging those people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Who will provide us with food from these goats?" Sayyiduna Abu al-Yusr (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! I will." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do it." The narrator says: I went out, running fast like an ostrich. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saw me going off, he said: "O Allah! Let us benefit from him." The narrator says: I reached the goats, the front part of which had already entered the fortress. I seized two goats from the rear part and held them under my arms, then I came running with them as though I had nothing with me, until I presented those two goats before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Those people slaughtered them and ate their meat. The narrator says: Sayyiduna Abu al-Yusr (may Allah be pleased with him) was the last of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to pass away. When he narrated this hadith, he would weep, and then he would say: "They were allowed to benefit from me, by my life, until I was the last of them."
Ahmad recorded it through some men of Banu Salimah; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
