Hadith 407

From Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that Khawla bint Yasar, may Allah be pleased with her, came to the Prophet during Hajj or Umrah and said: O Messenger of Allah! I have only one garment and I menstruate in it. He said: "When you become pure, wash the place of the blood and then pray in it." She said: O Messenger of Allah! What if its trace does not go away? He said: "Water is sufficient for you and its trace will not harm you."

Brief Explanation
Benefits: … There is consensus among Muslims that menstrual blood is impure. The aforementioned ahadith require that this blood be completely cleaned. Its (remaining) trace will not harm you. To understand this, it is necessary to give an example: those people who sweat excessively under their arms, it often happens that the color of that part of the garment becomes yellow and does not come out even after washing. However, the persistence of this yellow color does not mean that sweat is still present; in reality, it is the color left by the sweat. The same applies to menstrual blood and other similar substances. The intent of the Shari‘ah is that menstrual blood should be cleaned, and if, due to it, the color of the garment itself has changed, then there is no harm in its remaining.
