بَابُ يُسَلِّمُ الْمَاشِي عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ
Chapter: The walker greets the seated
Al-Adab al-Mufrad 993 — The walker greets the seated
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي زِيَادٌ، أَنَّ ثَابِتًا أَخْبَرَهُ، وَهُوَ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، يَرْوِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ”يُسَلِّمُ الرَّاكِبُ عَلَى الْمَاشِي، وَالْمَاشِي عَلَى الْقَاعِدِ، وَالْقَلِيلُ عَلَى الْكَثِيرِ.“
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The rider should greet the one who is walking, the one who is walking should greet the one who is sitting, and the smaller group should greet the larger group."
