Sunan Abu Dawud 2096 — Regarding A Virgin Who Was Married Off
حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، " أَنَّ جَارِيَةً بِكْرًا أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَتْ أَنَّ أَبَاهَا زَوَّجَهَا وَهِيَ كَارِهَةٌ ، فَخَيَّرَهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Narrated Abdullah ibn Abbas: A virgin came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned that her father had married her against her will, so the Prophet ﷺ allowed her to exercise her choice.

«أخرجه أبوداود، النكاح، باب في البكر يزوجها أبوها ولا يستأمرها، حديث:2096، وابن ماجه، النكاح، حديث:1875، وأحمد:1 /273.»©Explanation:
From this hadith, it is understood that although the father is the guardian (wali), if he contracts the marriage of the girl without her permission and consultation, then the girl is legally (shar'an) entitled that if she is displeased with this marriage, she may annul it.
