Performing Hajj on Behalf of Someone Else

Hadith 26

Then a woman from the tribe of Khath’am came, and Fazl started looking at her, and she looked at him. The Prophet (peace be upon him) turned Fazl’s face away. Then he said: O Messenger of Allah! Indeed, the obligation of Hajj imposed by Allah on His servants has taken hold of my father, and he is very old and does not have the strength to ride a mount. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Yes. This incident occurred during the Farewell Hajj.”

Hadith 27

Pay off Allah’s debt (because) Allah’s debt has the greatest right to be fulfilled.'”

“And it is narrated from Hazrat Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said in a sermon: Indeed, time has come full circle to the same state as the day Allah created the heavens and the earth. The year consists of twelve months, four of which are sacred months. Three of them are consecutive, namely Dhu al-Qi’dah, Dhu al-Hijjah, and Muharram, and one is Rajab Mudhar, which is between Jumada al-Akhirah and Sha’ban. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, ‘Which month is this?’ We said, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He remained silent. We thought he might mention another name for it. Then he himself said, ‘Is this not the month of Dhu al-Hijjah?’ We replied, ‘Why not.’ The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked, ‘Which city is this?’ We said, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He remained silent until we thought he might mention another name. Then he himself said, ‘Is this not the sacred city?’ We said, ‘Indeed.’ Then he asked, ‘Which day is this?’ We said, ‘Allah and His Messenger know best.’ He remained silent until we thought he might mention another name. Then he himself said, ‘Is this not the Day of Sacrifice (Nahr)?’ We said, ‘Absolutely correct.’ He said, ‘Indeed, your blood, your wealth, and your honor are sacred to you just as this day of yours, this city of yours, and this month of yours are sacred. Soon you will meet your Lord, and He will question you about your deeds. Beware! Do not go astray after me by shedding each other’s blood with swords. Beware! Have I conveyed the message?’ The people said, ‘Yes.’ He said, ‘O Allah! Be a witness.’ Then he said: Those who are present should convey this message to those who are absent because sometimes those who are informed remember better than those who hear it directly.”

The Reward of Umrah is Proportional to the Effort

Hadith 32

It was said to her: Then wait, and when you are pure, go to Taneem and assume Ihram from there (for Umrah). Then we met at such and such place, and the reward of this Umrah will be according to your expenses and effort.”

Do not apply perfume on him, nor cover his head, because he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection in the state of Ihram.”

Sacrifice during Hajj

Here I am, You have no partner. Here I am. All praise and thanks are for You alone, and all blessings are from You. Sovereignty belongs to You alone, You have no partner.”

Supplicating upon seeing the House of Allah
