🕌 Combining Prayers Due to Frequent Wudu Breakage During Illness: Shar’i Ruling and Clarification
❓ Question:
In the state of illness, if a person’s wudu breaks frequently, is it permissible for him to combine two prayers (e.g., Dhuhr with Asr or Maghrib with Isha), excluding Fajr?
Can this be done as Jam‘ Taqdīm (early combination) or Jam‘ Ta’khīr (delayed combination)?
Also, is one wudu sufficient for both prayers, or should a new wudu be made for each prayer?

📜 Shar’i Ruling:
➡️ Frequent breaking of wudu due to illness is not itself a valid reason for combining prayers.
➡️ The original Shar’i ruling is that each prayer must be offered in its specified time.
⚖️ Exception – Valid Reason for Combining:
If the nature of illness is such that:
◈ Performing each prayer on time becomes too difficult or distressing,
◈ Or maintaining wudu for each prayer is highly impractical due to severity of illness,
—then in such cases, combining prayers becomes permissible.
✔ This includes either:
- Jam‘ Taqdīm (performing the second prayer at the time of the first), or
- Jam‘ Ta’khīr (delaying the first prayer to perform it with the second).
🛑 Note: This is allowed only due to genuine hardship, not simply due to frequent wudu nullification.
💧 Ruling on Wudu While Combining:
✔ If the sick person can maintain wudu during the combined prayers,
then one wudu is sufficient for both.
❗However, if the wudu breaks in between,
then a new wudu is required before the second prayer.
📌 Summary:
① Frequent wudu breakage alone is not a valid reason for combining prayers.
② Combining is allowed only when genuine difficulty prevents timely performance.
③ One wudu suffices if it remains valid for both prayers; otherwise, a fresh wudu is required.
