❀ Question
Is a woman allowed to give the Adhan? And should a woman perform Sujood (prostration) like a man, or is there a different method prescribed for her?
❀ Answer
A Hadith states:
“ٱلْمَرْأَةُ كُلُّهَا عَوْرَةٌ”
“The entire body of a woman is ‘awrah (must be covered).”
Based on the implication of this Hadith, a woman’s voice also falls within the bounds of ‘awrah, and therefore, her voice should not be raised in public.
Hence, a woman is not permitted to give the Adhan.
Regarding Sujood (prostration), although not detailed in this specific fatwa, classical jurists generally state that a woman should adopt a more modest posture in Sujood than a man, such as keeping her limbs closer to her body.
