Sharʿi Ruling on Zakat for Less Than 7.5 Tolas of Gold

Is zakat obligatory on less than 7.5 tolas of gold?

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu wa-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ʿAmma Baʿd!
No, zakat is not obligatory on an amount of gold less than 7.5 tolas (87.48 grams).
Shariʿah has fixed this as the nisāb (minimum threshold).
- If a person owns 7.5 tolas or more, zakat becomes obligatory.
- If the gold is less than this, zakat is not required.
