Who is responsible for all of the wife’s expenses?
◈ Answer:
All of the wife’s essential expenses are the responsibility of the husband. These include food and drink, clothing, accommodation, and medical expenses. The husband must provide for these according to his financial ability.
❀ Statement of the Scholars
✔ Imam Ibn Baṭṭāl رحمه الله (449 AH):
“There is consensus that all of the wife’s essential expenses are the responsibility of the husband.”
(شرح صحيح البخاري: 7/539)

The husband is fully responsible for covering his wife’s essential needs — food, clothing, shelter, and medical care — according to his means. This is established by scholarly consensus.
