⚖️ The Murder of Justice and the Terrifying Consequences of Injustice
Written by: Qari Usama bin Abdussalam (Hafizahullah)
❖ Injustice and Judicial Oppression – A Grave Tragedy
What an era we live in—courts, once symbols of justice, have now become centers of oppression and injustice. The law seems to apply only to the weak, while the powerful and influential treat the judiciary like a playground. Verdicts are bought with money, influence, and false witnesses. Justice has been buried, and the cries of the oppressed reach the heavens.
➊ Condemnation of Injustice in the Qur’an
Allah ﷻ commands that justice be upheld at all times:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تُؤَدُّوا الْأَمَانَاتِ إِلَى أَهْلِهَا وَإِذَا حَكَمْتُمْ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ أَنْ تَحْكُمُوا بِالْعَدْلِ
“Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people, to judge with justice.”
(Surah an-Nisā’: 58)
But today, injustice has taken the place of justice. Courts are delivering verdicts in favor of the wealthy and against the poor. False testimony, bribery, and political pressure have hollowed out the judiciary.
➋ The Prophet ﷺ Warns Against Selective Justice
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“People before you were destroyed because if a noble among them committed theft, they let him go, but if a weak person stole, they punished him. By Allah! If Fāṭimah bint Muḥammad were to steal, I would cut off her hand.”
(Bukhārī: 6788, Muslim: 1688)
This is exactly the tragedy unfolding today—the influential walk free, while the poor rot in jails for minor offenses.
➌ The Bitter Reality of Today’s Courts
◈ Bribery and Corruption: Verdicts are bought with money.
◈ False Witnesses and Fabricated Evidence: Lies are manufactured to suppress truth.
◈ Separate Laws for the Powerful: Politicians, feudal lords, and capitalists act as if above the law.
◈ Doors Closed to the Oppressed: Justice has become so expensive that the poor fear even approaching the courts.
◈ Delayed Verdicts for Decades: Cases remain unresolved for generations; the oppressed die waiting for justice.
➍ The Consequences of Injustice – A Qur’anic Warning
Allah ﷻ warns the oppressors with a dreadful punishment:
وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ ٱلْأَبْصَٰرُ
“Never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare in horror.”
(Surah Ibrāhīm: 42)
This is the severe fate awaiting those who commit injustice. They may escape accountability in this world due to their influence, but before Allah, there is no refuge.
➎ What Needs to Be Done?
◈ Reform the Justice System: The judiciary must be cleansed of politics and corruption.
◈ Harsh Punishment for Bribery and False Testimony: Those who lie or accept bribes should be made examples.
◈ Deliver Timely and Equal Verdicts: Whether weak or strong, justice must be impartial.
◈ Awaken the Nation: We must raise our voices against oppressors and strive for the establishment of true justice.
➏ A Message to the Nation
If we silently watch the murder of justice today, remember—tomorrow, we ourselves may be the victims of injustice.
No nation can prosper without justice.
If we fail to reform our judicial system, then Allah’s wrath and destruction are at our doorstep.
May Allah grant us the ability to establish justice and the courage to stand against oppressors. Āmīn!
