Question: If a woman becomes pure from menstruation or postpartum bleeding immediately after the break of dawn, should she refrain from eating and drinking and observe the fast of that day? And should the fast of that day be considered valid? Or is she required to make up that fast later?
Answer: If a woman’s bleeding stops at the time of dawn or slightly before it, her fast will be valid, and the obligation will be fulfilled even if she performs the bath after the morning has fully arrived. However, if the bleeding stops after the morning has fully become clear, she should refrain from eating and drinking that day. Nevertheless, her fast will not be sufficient, and she will have to make it up after Ramadan. And Allah knows best. “Sheikh Ibn Jibreen, may Allah have mercy on him.”
