Raising Hands for Collective Du‘a After the Eid Khutbah: Is It Permissible?

Written by: Hafiz Zubair Ali Zai (رحمه الله)

❖ Question:

Is it correct for the Imam and congregation to raise their hands and make collective du‘a after the Eid khutbah?

❖ Answer:

This is a matter of ijtihad (scholarly discretion), and making du‘a itself is established.
However, raising hands collectively with the Imam after the Eid khutbah is not proven.
Therefore, it is preferable to avoid collective du‘a with raised hands on this occasion.
