Answer:
I‘tikāf (spiritual retreat in the mosque) is a Sunnah and recommended (mustaḥabb) act.
❀ Sayyidah ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها narrated:
Arabic:
كان النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم يعتكف العشر الأواخر من رمضان حتى توفاه الله
Translation:
“The Prophet ﷺ used to observe i‘tikāf during the last ten days of Ramadan until Allah took his soul.”
