The person who obstructs marriage through various actions and exaggeration regarding the dowry will be punished because he causes corruption, which the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, alluded to in this statement:
«إلا تفعلوا تكن فتنة فى الأرض و فساد كبيرة

“If you do not marry (the person whose religion and character you like, your daughter, sister, etc.), there will be turmoil on earth and widespread corruption.”
