The Virtue of the One Who Clothes a Muslim
✿ Hadith:
[Hasan: Reported by Al-Tirmidhi 2434 (this wording), Al-Bukhari in Al-Tarikh al-Kabir 9/3, and Al-Hakim 4/196]
Narrated by Husayn bin Malik
A beggar came and asked Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه), who said to him: “Do you testify that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah?” The man replied: “Yes.” He then asked: “Do you testify that Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) is the Messenger of Allah?” He replied: “Yes.” He asked: “Do you fast during Ramadan?” The man said: “Yes.” Ibn Abbas (رضي الله عنه) said: “You have asked, and the beggar has a right. Indeed, it is a right upon us to give you your due.” Then he gave him a garment and said:
“I heard the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) say: ‘Whoever clothes a Muslim with a garment will remain under Allah’s protection as long as even a shred of that garment remains on him.'”
