Translation:

ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAbbās رضي الله عنهما narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“No man should be alone with a woman unless she has a maḥram with her.”

❖ Additional Hadith ❖

The following narration appears in Jāmiʿ al-Tirmidhī, Musnad Aḥmad, and others:

Translation:

“Whenever a man is alone with a (non-maḥram) woman, Shayṭān is the third among them (inciting them towards evil).”

◈ Key Points:

① Islam strictly forbids unlawful seclusion (khalwah) between a man and a woman who are not maḥram.
② Such seclusion paves the way for temptation and leads to sinful inclinations, as Shayṭān becomes the third.
③ Parents bear the responsibility of warning and preventing their daughters from situations of khalwah.
④ These rulings are preventative measures to preserve chastity and morality in society.
