26- The Stages of Human Creation
Question:
Is it possible to know the details of the stages of pregnancy, from the seminal fluid up to the blowing in of the soul, and the conditions after that?
Answer:
However skilled a doctor may be, and however much knowledge, experience and expertise he has, he cannot know the conditions of pregnancy completely, apart from a few states, because this entire matter takes place by the command of Allah, the All-Knowing, the All-Aware. The proof for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted:
اللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَحْمِلُ كُلُّ أُنْثَى وَمَا تَغِيضُ الْأَرْحَامُ وَمَا تَزْدَادُ وَكُلُّ شَيْءٍ عِنْدَهُ بِمِقْدَارٍ عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَادَةِ الْكَبِيرُ الْمُتَعَالِ
“Allah knows what every female carries, and what the wombs diminish and what they increase, and everything with Him is according to a measure. He is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Great, the Most High.”
And He said:
إِنَّ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ عِلْمُ السَّاعَةِ وَيُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الْأَرْحَامِ
“Indeed Allah, with Him alone is the knowledge of the Hour, and He sends down the rain, and He knows what is in the wombs of mothers.”
