❖ Question
Should women go for the ʿEid prayer?
❖ Answer
Yes, women should also go for the ʿEid prayer.
Sayyidah Umm ʿAṭiyyah رضي الله عنها narrated:
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded us to bring out unmarried young women, women in seclusion, and even menstruating women on ʿEid al-Fiṭr and ʿEid al-Aḍḥā. The menstruating women were to stay away from the prayer place, but they could participate in supplication and share in the blessings of the day with the Muslims. We said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ, what if one of us does not have a cloak? He ﷺ said: Let her sister lend her a cloak.”
(Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 981, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 890)
✅ Sharʿi Ruling:
Women are encouraged to attend the ʿEid prayer, provided they observe proper Sharʿi hijāb. Menstruating women should not enter the prayer area but may attend for the supplication and communal gathering.
