The Question
If someone misses one rak‘ah of Fajr prayer, should he complete the missed rak‘ah aloud (jahr) or quietly (sirran)?
Answer
- The person has the choice to complete the missed rak‘ah either aloud or quietly.
- However, the better (afḍal) way is to complete it quietly.
Reason for Preferring Quiet Recitation
- There may be others nearby engaged in prayer.
- Loud recitation might disturb or distract them from their own worship.
Conclusion:
While both jahr and sirr are permissible for the missed rak‘ah of Fajr, the Sunnah-based consideration for others makes quiet recitation the preferable choice.
