Question:

Is it permissible for a wife to demand a divorce from her husband who is suffering from an illness from which there is no hope of recovery, because if she stays with him in this condition, she fears temptation regarding herself?

Answer:

Alhamdulillah, I see no obstacle in a wife demanding a divorce from a husband who is unable to live with her in a good manner, especially when she fears falling into temptation and forbidden (adultery) concerning herself.
As there is a narration regarding its permissibility in Abu Dawood, Tirmidhi, and Ibn Majah. The questioner has stated that her husband is unable to maintain good companionship with her, and she fears falling into some temptation in this condition. This will be considered a legitimate reason that justifies her demand for divorce. And Allah knows best.
