Question

If a maternal uncle’s wife (māmānī) does not observe ḥijāb, should one observe ḥijāb from her, or should one avoid going before her as a precaution?

Answer

Al-ḥamdu lillāh, waṣ-ṣalātu was-salāmu ʿalā Rasūlillāh, ammā baʿd!

✿ If the maternal uncle’s wife (māmānī) does not observe ḥijāb, then it is obligatory to observe ḥijāb from her.

✿ Otherwise, one should not go before her and should not look at her.

✿ It is necessary to safeguard oneself and exercise precaution in this matter.
