1. Clear Prohibition in Hadith

Narrated by Jabir (RA):

إن الله حــرم بـيـع الــخـمـر و الميتة والخنزير والأصنام
“Indeed, Allah has prohibited the sale of alcohol, carrion, swine, and idols.”
[Bukhari: 2236, 4296; Muslim: 1581; Ahmad: 3/324; Abu Dawood: 3486; Tirmidhi: 1297; Ibn Majah: 2167; Nasa’i: 7/309; Ibn al-Jarood: 578; Bayhaqi: 6/12]

2. Scholarly Explanations

  • Ibn Hajar رحمه الله: The trade of all parts of swine is prohibited by consensus.
    [Fath al-Bari: 5/178]
  • Al-Shawkani رحمه الله: It is not permissible to benefit from anything belonging to a dead animal, except what is excluded by evidence, such as a tanned hide, etc.
    [Nayl al-Awtar: 3/58]
