Order not to dispose of sold goods before taking possession
It is not permissible to sell goods before buying them, because it is not permissible to sell something that a person does not possess. The Prophetic saying is:
«لا يحل سلف و بيع، ولا بيع ما ليس عندك»

Reference: Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Hadith number 1234; Sunan al-Nasa’i, Hadith number 4611

“Deferred sale (credit) and immediate sale are not permissible together, and there is no sale of what is not with you.”
And Hazrat Hakim bin Hizam asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), “If a man comes to me to buy some goods which I do not have, can I sell those goods to him and then go and buy them?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said:
“Do not sell what is not with you.”

Reference: Sunan Abi Dawood, Hadith number 3503

Therefore, when you want to sell something, first buy it, then when you have taken possession of it and kept it with you, it becomes yours, and only then can you sell it. And if someone wants to buy something from you, tell him: wait until I buy that thing. When you buy it and it comes into your possession, then sell it to whomever you wish.
