✿ Evidence from the Hadith

In the previously mentioned Hadith, the phrase “من المسلمين“ (from the Muslims) serves as clear evidence that Sadaqat al-Fitr is to be given only on behalf of Muslims. Therefore, if someone’s father, mother, or servant is a non-Muslim, Sadaqat al-Fitr will not be paid on their behalf.

✿ Opinions of the Scholars

➤ Imām Ibn Qudāmah (رحمه الله):
“Sadaqat al-Fitr is not obligatory upon a disbeliever, whether he is free or a slave.”
[al-Mughnī: 4/283]

➤ Imām Shawkānī (رحمه الله):
“Sadaqat al-Fitr is not obligatory upon a disbeliever.”
[Nayl al-Awṭār: 3/145]

➤ Imām Ibn Ḥajar (رحمه الله):
“This is an agreed upon matter among scholars.”
[Fatḥ al-Bārī: 4/142]
