Is Zakāt Obligatory on Villagers as Well?

Is Zakāt also obligatory on villagers?
❀ Answer
Both villagers and city-dwellers are equal in matters of Zakāt. Whoever possesses wealth that reaches the niṣāb (minimum threshold), Zakāt becomes obligatory upon him — whether his house is made of mud or brick.
