❀ Principle of Asking in Islam:
🔹 Unnecessary begging—whether inside or outside the masjid—is not permitted in Islam.
🔹 However, three specific situations have been exempted by the Prophet ﷺ, as detailed in the authentic Hadith.
📖 Evidence from Hadith:
Narrated by Qabīṣah ibn Mukhāriq al-Hilālī رضي الله عنه, the Prophet ﷺ said:
“O Qabīṣah! Asking (for help) is not permissible except in three cases:
① A person who has undertaken a financial obligation on behalf of someone else — he may ask until he secures what he needs.
② A person who has lost his wealth due to a calamity — he may ask until he can sustain himself again.
③ A person who is struck by poverty to the extent verified by three trustworthy people from his community — he may ask until he overcomes his situation.
Any other case of asking is ḥarām, and the one who does so consumes ḥarām wealth.”

❀ Ruling on Appealing Inside the Masjid:
✔ If the person is genuinely in need, and his case fits one of the three categories mentioned above, he may:
◈ Appeal for financial help,
◈ Even within the masjid,
◈ But only temporarily, and only until his need is fulfilled.
⚠️ Warnings Against Deceit and Fabrication:
🚫 Today, it is common for fraudulent individuals to:
- Obtain false endorsements (تزکیہ),
- Lie about their circumstances,
- And exploit people’s generosity.
📌 It is not permissible to issue a Sharʿī ruling to support such requests without proper verification.
✅ Conclusion:
◈ Requesting help inside a masjid is permissible only for someone who is truly needy and falls under the Hadith-defined conditions.
◈ Donors should be encouraged to help sincerely, but must also exercise due diligence.
◈ One who lies in such a matter will be accountable before Allah ﷻ.
