Is it permissible to use a healing incantation (ruqyah) other than the Book of Allah?
❖ Answer:
No, it is not permissible.
The evidence for this is the narration from Sayyidah ʿĀ’ishah رضي الله عنها:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to her while a woman was treating her using a healing incantation. The Prophet ﷺ said:
«عالجيها بكتاب الله»
“Treat her with the Book of Allah.”
This narration is reported by Imām Ibn Ḥibbān, as recorded in Mawārid al-Ẓam’ān, Ḥadīth no. 1419.
