Prohibition of scattering the hair
① Sayyiduna Ata bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was present in the mosque when a man came whose hair and beard were disheveled. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) gestured with his blessed hand, as if commanding him to tidy his hair and beard. So he tidied his hair and then came back to the presence of the Prophet (peace be upon him), who said:
أليس هٰذا خيرا من أن يأتى أحدكم ثائر الرأس كأنه شيطان
“Is it not better for one of you to bring disheveled hair as if it were Satan?”
② Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to us and saw a man with disheveled hair, then said:
أما يجد هٰذا ما يسكن به شعره
“Is there no one who can arrange his hair?”
