Question: A woman performing Hajj Tamattu‘ tied the Ihram and became menstruant before reaching the Ka‘bah. What should she do in this situation? Can she perform Hajj before completing Umrah?

Answer: Such a woman should remain in the Ihram of Umrah. If she becomes pure before the 9th of Dhu al-Hijjah and it is possible for her to complete Umrah, she should complete it, then tie the Ihram for Hajj and proceed to Arafat to complete the remaining rituals of Hajj. If she does not become pure before the day of Arafah, she should tie the Ihram for Hajj along with Umrah, saying:

اللهم إنى أحرمت بحج مع عمرتى

“O Allah! I tie the Ihram for Hajj along with Umrah.” (Meaning she will definitely perform Umrah after Hajj)

In this way, she will be performing Hajj Qiran, stand with the people at Arafah, complete the other rituals of Hajj, and for her, the Ihram, the Tawaf on the day of Eid, or the Tawaf al-Ziyarah and Sa‘i after it will suffice for both her Hajj and Umrah. However, like one performing Hajj Tamattu‘, she will be required to offer the sacrifice of Hajj Qiran.
