Holding the Arrogant in Power Accountable – Knocking on the Doors of Justice in the Halls of Oppression
By: Qari Usama bin Abdul Salam
When Power Becomes a Curse
When someone gains authority and lets it escape the boundaries of moral conduct, Shari’ah values, and legal limits, that position ceases to be a mercy and becomes a curse. Such individuals spread corruption, fear, and injustice. But history bears witness — oppression never lasts forever, and every Pharaoh finds his Moses (ʿalayhi as-salām).
Goals
To hold an oppressive boss or leader accountable by:
① Bringing them within the bounds of law
② Gathering solid evidence against them
③ Raising public and institutional awareness
④ Breaking their power through ethics, media, and legal action
Step-by-Step Strategy
1. Gather Evidence
- Mobile recordings, witnesses, chat logs, or emails
- Audio/video of abusive language or harassment
- Written statements from victims
☑️ The more victims document their accounts, the stronger the case.
2. Use Their Nature Against Them
- Provoke their arrogance: draw out information through false praise.
- Trace their secrets: who they meet, where they go.
- Find weaknesses: illicit earnings, misconduct with women, lies, weak religious principles.
3. Smart Trapping
- Subtly encourage them to make decisions against the institution’s interest.
- Document their words in writing/video for official review.
- Create situations where they expose their unprofessional behavior publicly.
4. Legal Accountability
- File complaints for breach of service rules or institutional code of conduct.
- Report under cybercrime, harassment, or moral misconduct laws.
- Submit complaints to the Ombudsman or Human Rights Commission.
- If they are a government official, contact FIA, NAB, or Anti-Corruption departments.
5. Media & Public Narrative
- Break the silence about their oppression.
- Share anonymous accounts of victims.
- Publicize their misdeeds based on their own actions.
6. Build Internal Resistance
- Unite colleagues who are dissatisfied with them.
- Draft a joint complaint.
- Present a collective petition to the board or higher authority.
7. Sharʿī and Spiritual Response
Allah says:
﴿إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍۢ فَخُورٍۢ﴾ (Luqmān: 18)
“Indeed, Allah does not love the arrogant boaster.”
📌 Along with legal and institutional action, organize collective duʿās for their guidance — for true success lies in ending oppression and reforming hearts.
Conclusion
Raising your voice against oppression is an act of worship. To topple an arrogant boss from their throne of pride requires intelligence, strategy, and courage. When law, media, public support, institutional unity, and duʿāʾ work together, even the mightiest Pharaoh crumbles.
