Hadith 211

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to give them dates to eat which were of inferior quality (because only those were available). So the noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would exchange two sa' of those for one sa' of good quality dates. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) learned about our transaction, he asked us: "Is it so?" We said: "The high-quality dates from your share did not reach us, so we made a deal to give two sa' and take one sa'." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) then said: "A dinar is only to be exchanged for a dinar, and a dirham only for a dirham, and a sa' of dates only for a sa' of dates, and a sa' of barley only for a sa' of barley (in terms of weight); there is no superiority between them."
