باب: من قال: الله لأفعلن كذا، أو لم أفعل كذا، ينوي به يمينا
One who says: By Allah, I will certainly do such-and-such, or I did not do such-and-such, intending it as an oath

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمُقْرِئُ، أنبأ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْقَاضِي، ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ، ثنا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، ثنا الزُّبَيْرُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، أَنَّهُ طَلَّقَ امْرَأَتَهُ الْبَتَّةَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَأَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرَهُ: فَقَالَ: " مَا نَوَيْتَ بِذَلِكَ "؟ قَالَ: وَاحِدَةً، قَالَ: " آللَّهِ "، قَالَ: آللَّهِ، قَالَ: " فَهُوَ عَلَى مَا أَرَدْتَ "،.
Abdullah bin Ali bin Rukanah reports from his father, from his grandfather (Sayyiduna Rukanah, may Allah be pleased with him), that in the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) he divorced his wife with 'al-battah' (irrevocably). He came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and informed him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What did you intend by it?" He said: One (divorce). He (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "By Allah?" He said: Yes, by Allah! He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then it is as you intended."
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ، أنبأ الْحَسَنُ، ثنا يُوسُفُ، ثنا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ، ثنا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنَحْوِهِ، هَكَذَا رَوَاهُ جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ، وَقَدْ رَوَيْنَاهُ فِي كِتَابِ الطَّلَاقِ، مِنْ حَدِيثِ نَافِعِ بْنِ عُجَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي هَذِهِ الْقِصَّةِ " وَاللهِ مَا أَرَدْتَ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً " فَقَالَ رُكَانَةُ: وَاللهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ إِلَّا وَاحِدَةً ".
Sayyiduna Yazid bin Rukanah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); in this story he said: "By Allah, I intended only one."
