Ja'far bin Muhammad bin Ali (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from his father that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), weighed the hair of Sayyiduna Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both), Sayyidah Zaynab and Sayyidah Umm Kulthum (may Allah be pleased with them both), and gave in charity silver equal to its weight.

Ja'far bin Muhammad narrates from his father, from his grandfather, that Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) slaughtered a goat at the birth of Hasan and Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both), then removed their hair and gave in charity silver equal to its weight.

Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Weigh the hair of Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) and give in charity silver equal to its weight, and give the midwife a leg of the aqiqah animal."
(b) Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the midwife a leg of the aqiqah animal.
(c) Ja'far bin Muhammad narrates from his father, in a mursal narration, that they should send a leg of the aqiqah animal to the midwife.
(d) Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn narrates from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the aqiqah for Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him) with one goat and said: "O Fatimah, shave his head and give in charity silver equal to the weight of his hair." The weight of the hair was one dirham and part of a dirham.
This too is munqati' (broken); and in his narration it has also been said: from Muhammad bin Ali bin Husayn, from his father, from his grandfather, from Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), and I do not know whether it is preserved or not.

Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) says that when Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) gave birth to Sayyiduna Hasan (may Allah be pleased with him), she said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): Shall I not shed blood on behalf of my son? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, but shave his hair and give silver equal to the weight of his hair in charity to the awfad or to the poor." Sharik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: By the awfad he meant the people of the Suffah. So she did that, and when Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) was born, Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) did the same.
Hadith Referenceالسنن الكبرى للبيهقي / كتاب الضحايا / 19299
Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him) said that when Sayyiduna Hasan bin Ali (may Allah be pleased with them both) was born, his mother wanted to perform the aqiqah for him with a large ram, so she came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not perform the aqiqah; rather, shave the hair of his head and give silver equal to the weight of the hair in charity in the path of Allah or to travellers." When Sayyiduna Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) was born the following year, Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her) did the same. If this hadith is authentic, it is as though the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to perform their aqiqah himself; therefore he (peace and blessings be upon him) told her to give silver equal to the weight of the hair in charity.
Only Ibn Aqil narrated it.
