Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Fatimah (may Allah be pleased with her): "Stand by your sacrifice, for with the very first drop of the sacrifice's blood all sins are forgiven. On the Day of Resurrection the sacrificial animal will be brought with its flesh and its blood, increased seventy times, and it will be weighed in your record of deeds." Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah, is this exclusive to the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), or is it for people in general as well? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, it is for the family of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and for all people."

Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Fatimah, be present beside your sacrifice when it is slaughtered, for with the very first drop of its blood all the sins you have committed will be forgiven, and say: 'Indeed, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds' [Surah al-An'am: 162-163]." I asked: O Messenger of Allah, is this for you and for the people of your household exclusively, or for the Muslims in general as well? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, it is for the Muslims in general as well."
