Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says: Abdullah bin Ubayy, the hypocrite, had a slave-girl whom he used to force into immorality, so the verse "And do not compel your slave-girls to prostitution" [Surah al-Nur: 33] was revealed, that is, do not force your slave-girls into evil. And in the narration of Abu Mu'awiyah: Abdullah bin Ubayy used to say to his slave-girl: Go, commit fornication and earn something and bring it. So Allah revealed this verse: "And do not compel your slave-girls to prostitution" [Surah al-Nur: 33].
